Project Background
In large-scale chemical facility design, routing thousands of branch pipelines manually is extremely time-consuming. Human error frequently leads to pipelines passing through beams or equipment (hard clashes), causing costly and extensive design rework later.
Scope of Work
- Developed a native placement toolbar based on E3D .NET API, embedded directly into the designer's E3D interface
- Introduced a 3D pathfinding obstacle avoidance algorithm to achieve automated pipe routing planning
- Developed a one-click compliance verification tool to automatically review pipe spans and structural steel safety clearances in the database backend
Key Outcomes
- Increased design efficiency for standard branch pipelines by over 40%
- Achieved 100% automated checking of clashes and clearance compliance in early modeling stages, reducing rework by over 90%
